An award winning educator, Memo can swing a jazz quintet with the same effortless mastery as he rings the bell in the Mambo shout-chorus—either way gets things moving! Accordingly, he’s appeared on a long list of albums with major artists, including his mentor, the late, Tito Puente, Stephen Stills, Tom Scott, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Dave Valentin, Joss Stone, Propellerheads, Moacir Santos, Ivan Lins, Mark Murphy, Cachao, Irakere and Klimax among others.

We are family! Memo Acevedo & his daughter Jacquelene Acevedo have been making a buzz internationally and we’re excited to have them at The Zinc Bar, for a residency, the first Friday of every month. On drumset or hand drums, Memo illustrates the underscoring the diversity of Latin styles mixed with elements of Jazz. Even if you don’t know the difference between Samba, Songo and Cumbia, Memo, Jacquelene and their associates are going to have you feeling it in no time flat. Born in Colombia, Memo Acevedo is highly regarded in the fields of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian rhythms.
