New York native Greg Diamond first began his formal musical studies at La Fundación Cristancho in Bogotà, Colombia. He later completed his Undergraduate and Master's degree in Jazz Performance at The Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College in New York.
Greg has emerged in recent years at the forefront of a new generation of contemporary latin jazz guitarists and composers. The Greg Diamond Band (est. in 2006) has headlined at venues such as: The Blue Note Jazz Club, Iridium Jazz Club, Smalls Jazz Club, Zinc Bar, and Nublu among many others . Greg and his band also were international guests at The Barranquijazz Festival, The Teatro Libre Jazz Festival, The Jazz al Parque Festival, and The Universidad de Los Andes Jazz Festival in Colombia. Other festival presentations include the Plaza Mayor in Salamanca, Spain, and the First Annual Nublu Jazz Festival in New York City. In 2007, he was a semi-finalist in the Gibson International Jazz Guitar Competition hosted by the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Greg has shared the stage with such notables as: Seamus Blake, Henry Cole, Emilio Solla, Antonio Hart, Michael Philip Mossman, Don Friedman, Asha Puthli, and many others.
Greg's critically acclaimed debut album "Dançando Com Ale" (Chasm) was praised by All About Jazz as "one of the stronger jazz albums of 2008." His much anticipated sophomore album "Conduit" (Dot Time) is due for release in the spring of 2012.
