Don Braden is a world class musician of the highest calibre, and has toured the world and recorded with a virtual “Who's Who of Jazz”, including Freddie Hubbard, Roy Haynes, Tony Williams and Betty Carter. His own ensembles have included some of the most respected musicians on the current international jazz scene, including bassists Christian McBride and Joris Teepe; pianists Benny Green & Darrell Grant; drummers Carl Allen, Cecil Brooks III and Billy Hart; trumpeters Tom Harrell and Randy Brecker; trombonist Steve Turre; organists Jack McDuff and Larry Goldings and guitarist Russell Malone. Braden has composed music for a wide variety of performing and recording ensembles, from duos to full symphonic orchestras, embracing many styles and genres. He has recorded eighteen CDs as a leader and over eighty as a sideman.
Don Braden has also worked extensively in the realms of film and television, notably working for several years as composer for Bill Cosby. Don Braden’s appearances include countless performances at international Jazz festivals as well as venues such as New York City’s famed “Village Vanguard”, Carnegie Hall, “The Blue Note” jazz clubs, New York City’s “Sweet Basil”, “Birdland” and many other prominent jazz venues throughout the Americas, Europe, Japan, Russia and Australia. His television appearances include NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”, The David Brenner Show, The Joan Rivers Show (all with Wynton Marsalis) and several others. In addition to his performance and compositional work, Don Braden is also an avid, dedicated and renowned educator.
