Regarded as one of Brazil's greatest vocal talents in the late 90's, Barbara Mendes was raised in Rio de Janeiro, the general headquarters of Brazilian Popular Music. She started her career at the age of 6, recording jingles and performing at festivals with her mother, singer Marisa Rossi. Her singing was interrupted when she went to Law School, graduating in January 1996.
In August , she moved to New York City in order to develop her singing skills, going to The New School for Social Research. She also experienced Gospel techniques and nowadays has Pat Holley as her vocal coach and teacher.
