Flavio Renegado

Tuesday, July 17
8PM One Night Only One Set Only

Rapper, composer, instrumentalist, poet, actor and community leader, Flávio Renegado left the narrow alleys of the favela to reach farther limits with his work that takes Brazilian hip hop out of the ghetto and embraces the most diverse influences. Flávio Renegado has a cosmopolitan spirit that emerges and results in his artistic work. He presents an acute urban sound, influenced by the multiplicity of the contemporary music movements. Free from geographical limits, his music dialogues with African beats, Caribbean rhythms, textures of American hip hop, electronic music and also the traditional samba mood. Renegado performed in 2012 Brasil Summerfest, Central Park, and made an European tour (including an artistic residency in England with young creators from different parts of the world), Renegado performed at important festivals like Back2Black (in London and Rio de Janeiro) and established partnerships with Nigerian artist Nneka and Brazilian Mart'nália and Fernanda Takai , as well as the participation in Bebel Gilberto's first DVD.
